Distance: ½ mile
This is a pleasant and easy walk round the lake, that can be endlessly complicated at will by a little aimless rambling along forest tracks.
The lake was created by the Forestry Commission and the name pre-dates it. It has nothing to do with ducks or fish, or, for that matter, steam locomotives or rocky outcrops!
It is accessible all the way round, except for a little difficulty getting on to the bridge if you are on your own, because there is a tiny step caused by erosion.
There is ample disabled parking near the toilets. The path is clear and well-surfaced.
